Say farewell to 2014!

Well...2014 was a step in the right direction. I've now opened my etsy shop, had an OK start but looking to ramp it up come 2015. Hopefully that will include posting to my blog a bit more often...lol...well I did say hopefully, right?
To end the year I thought I'd share one of my new favorites with you it's the mod melts mold "gems" & I'm really having fun playing with it. I've used UV resin & Polymer clay both & I love the results. So look for more faceted "stones" in my upcoming jewelry designs. Some of them have glitter, foil, gold leaf, alcohol ink & even embossing powder! I've got a short up-coming video on the basics of how to use the mold & I'll be doing more with this little "gem" I'm sure!

Thanks so much for stopping by one last time in 2014...see you next year!

There's Nothing Like a Bit of Bling!

It's no secret that I love sparkle...the more sparkly the better...lol. But not everyone likes glitter everywhere. My Hubby will come home & say "you've got glitter on" or "you've been playing with glitter again, haven't you?" ...lol...because I'll have glitter on my face(my hands, my clothes...lol) somewhere! Well the next solution is...glass rhinestones! Yes those little hot fix rhinestones make great embellishments in your polymer clay projects! Problem solved...well except how to use them. A little Bake-N-Bond does the job very nicely! So here's just a few of the pendants I've done using these gorgeous little "gems"...

Dragonfly Dreams

Butterfly Breezes

Bubbles
I think they are wonderful & so sparkly! So if you looking to add some sparkle to your polymer clay jewelry give these little "gems" a try. You may just be glad you did!
I've got a tutorial on the Butterfly pendant on my YT channel for anyone interested.

Pyramid Box for Lindy's Stamp Gang Color Challenge

Here's a little Pyramid Box that I created a few months ago & never posted. Why...well I've been busy, busy,busy...lol. It's made from foam core board & the paper is Dossier by Colorbok. I just love the way it turned out. I've used Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays in Cocoa Bean Copper , Tainted Love Teal  , Tibetan Poppy Teal & Smokey Sapphire & they are so gorgeous! I sprayed my handmade flowers & just a spritz on the background.  I used the Tibetan Poppy Teal on the butterfly on the top as well. With the chenille flowers & the braided trim to finish it off beautifully.

Halloween Polymer Clay Potion Bottle & Spell Book Cabinet

Whew, I've been working on this one for a while now. Using Premo clay, a cardboard box & my faux leather technique with brown paper this is what I created...

Each potion bottle is completely handmade & my original creation. I enjoyed this project so much that I'm thinking of creating another one with completely different potion bottles, book & cabinet. I just love Halloween, don't you?

Fall with a Bit of Resin

Resin & polymer clay seem to just be made for each other. The deep clear top coat seems to magnify all the luscious details of each layer. Well I've been working with Lisa Pavelka's Magic Glos more these days & here's the results...

I just love the results using the Magic Glos. Magic Glos is a UV Resin that cure in ultraviolet light...meaning sunlight or a UV curing light(the kind used in nail salons). It's a wonderful product, a bit pricey but well worth it. When I ran out I decided to use another tried & true product...TLS Translucent liquid scupley. Here's the results...
Yep...it's just TLS cure in the oven & then with my heat gun to clarify it.Then I added a coat of glass glaze to add some additional shine. I've done a tutorial for it on my YT channel, so check it out if you've got time...
I'll share the finished piece in the next post.

Thinking of Fall

Ok it's still too hot here to be thinking about Fall but as an artist I have to think ahead, right? Right! So I started with some brooches...Premo clay & just a few touches of acrylic paints & antiquing.

And then I just had too go ahead & do one for Halloween...
and the just because...
Christmas! Well it's coming, you know it is...lol.
